For Juniors and Seniors who need
to retake a graduation test, Credit Recovery will be available
for you this summer starting June 2nd, 8:30-2:30 until the
testing dates which are July 14-18 for the four core areas and
July 9th for the writing test.
Social Studies and Science will
post their blitz dates and times when this is decided. Please
make plans to attend these reviews so that you can pass the
tests this summer. If you have questions, come by Room 121.
Students, please return any books
or other materials that you have checked out from the library
and clear any fines as soon as possible.
This is the final week for
homework lab. They will be here Monday - Friday, 7:30 until
8:10, and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:30 until
4:30. Buses will run at 4:30 for students who stay for homework
help or for testing. On Friday at 8:30 A.M., all unfinished work
and tests will be returned to your classroom teacher. If you
need to take a test or complete an assignment in homework lab,
you must do so THIS WEEK, no exceptions.
The English department is offering
REWARDS to students for turning in English text books. Rewards
range from free pizzas to Chick-Fil-A and ice cream coupons. We
need students to look in their lockers, their cars, their
bedrooms and their backpacks and turn in their English text
books to your teachers.
Attention; any student taking an
AP or honors English class next year must sign out for your
summer reading assignment today or tomorrow during first and
second lunches. A table will be set up in the lobby where you
can pick up your assignment. You must pick up your reading
assignment to be eligible for the class.
The GHS Admin would like to show
our appreciation to all the teachers. This Friday, we are
busting out the grill again and will be grilling just for you
during both lunches! Please come down, enjoy and thanks for all
you do!
Tickets are going like "hot cakes"
for SWING so visit the atrium between ll:30 and 12:30 pm today
and get your tickets NOW! Only l00 seats are remaining to be
sold for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Don’t miss your chance
to see Manse Jennings and Mark Casper as dancers/singers along
with Ali Boychuk and Andrea Allen. There are 44 high schoolers
involved in this production with a live orchestra featuring our
own Bob Horne on Bass with Chuck McKissick on percussions and
saxophone, trumpet, and trombone players from neighboring towns.
The choreography polished by dance captains Stacy Young and
Charleston Troutman will have you wishing you were up on the
stage dancing with these folks. Tickets are only $5. Don't miss
out on this opportunity to be apart of a spectacular ending of
this theatre season.
Please help Coach Earls and Mr.
Anderson raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association by
participating in hat day on Friday. Tickets will be on sale
today for $1.00 in the main lobby. Or you can see Coach Earls
or Mr. Anderson.

Keep It Green is holding a
Decorate-a Recycle box competition during GHS Earthweek.
Students must ask a teacher if they can use their recycle box.
No objects such as cans may be placed on the box, such as cans.
Only writing materials are allowed. Boxes must be covered
completely and indicate that it is for paper recycling. Entries
are due by Thursday May, 8th. 1st prize receives a $25 dollar
gift card to a Simon Mall. For any questions, please go to Ms.
Leech’s room #*.Also, Keep It Green will be holding a bake sale
on Thursday in the first floor lobby.
A reminder to all Color Guard,
Dance Team, and Drum lines members. Your registration form and
deposit are due in to Mr. Miller in the band room by this
Friday.
Senior Key Club members who wish
to have a stole for graduation can order one through Mr. Miller
for a cost of $20. You must get your order in by May 13.
Tryouts for the 2008-2009 school
year GHS Hip Hop Dance Team will be held May 12-16. Location and
times will be announced at a later date. If you are interested
in joining please see Ms LeeAnn Waller, room 217 to sign up.
Gainesville Red Elephant Youth
Football Camp will be June 2-6 from 9-Noon Ages 6-14 Cost $100.
Camp is limited to the first 200 players. Applications are at
each Elementary School and the High School front office. This
Camp teaches younger players the fundamentals and skills of the
football. This is Non-Contact. Gainesville High Coaches, former
and current players will help with the camp. Any questions

All boys who are not participating
at the state track meet this week need to turn in their uniforms
in to coach Wofford or Coach Shirley by Friday; no excuses.

Mercer, who won first prize on
the annual Foreign Language Day
at North Georgia College and
State University held on April
17.
Taylor is a student in Chinese
II. For this year's competition,
he made a model "Giant Panda"
Taylor competed against all
students of all foreign
languages from all schools who
participated in the competition.
